Orlando
Serving the Children of the World

Kiwanis Club Orlando
Serving Central Florida children since 1921

Kiwanis Club Orlando is a community service organization where professionals,
retirees, students, and civic volunteers all come together with one common goal:
serving the needs of children in Central Florida.

Club members meet weekly to network, share a few laughs, and learn more
about the community. Each year, the club organizes a wide-range of volunteer
projects, including an annual Christmas party for underprivileged children, a track
meet for area elementary school students, and service projects at Orlando Day
Nursery.  The Orlando Day Nursery is the club's oldest community service project,
dating back to the 1920s.  The daycare facility provides child care options for
working moms with limited resources.

The club meets in downtown Orlando at the Orlando Day Nursery, 626 Lake Dot
Circle, Orlando. Meetings are on Friday afternoons from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. and
include lunch. Take a few moments to learn more about the club and how you
can get involved in serving the needs of children in Central Florida.

Recent Events

2011 Hall of Fame Induction
Kiwanis Club Orlando proudly recognized Steve Johnson as the 2011 Hall of Fame inductee.  Selection is based on four criteria: (1) service to the club, (2) service to the community, (3) leadership, and (4) participation.

Steve served as president and mentor to the club for over thirty years.  Steve is a current member of the Kiwanis Club Orlando. Recent service projects that Steve has lead the club is the Kiwanis Day of Service and Nathaniel's Hope, an annual service project.

The club also recognized William C. Schwartz, former member and president, of Kiwanis Club Orlando. Bill left a lasting legacy for the club by getting his son Kenny involved and fostering a long-term partnership with the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra concert. This children-helping-children fundraiser became a yearly celebration and served as an excellent example of Bill's service to Central Florida.

Steve and Bill join previous inductees John Fordham (2008), Pete Kelley (2008), Bob Riddle (2008), Jim Robinson (2009), Vernon Swartsel (2010). Congratulations - and thank you!

KCO Golf "Tournament"

Golf and Kiwanis Club Orlando have a long history. Unfortunately, only one person knows that history - Steve Johnson.

Each year players (and non-players) gather for a tournament built with a complex set of rules, exceptions, and exceptions to the exceptions.

No golf tournament is complete without the 19th hole, where club members and players relax and enjoy a little fellowship.

Winners of the 2012 tournament pause for a photo between shots. Congratulations!
