Community Service
Kiwanis Club Orlando has a long history of community service in Central Florida. Club
members volunteer their time and talent throughout the year to help children in need.
Volunteer activities include:
Orlando Day Nursery
The Orlando Day Nursery remains the club's longest standing community service commitment.
Kiwanis Club Orlando first began working with the organization in the 1920s and recently
constructed a state-of-the-art facility for children in Parramore. Orlando Day Nursery provides
childcare programs and preschool education for reduced rates so families living at or near
poverty have a safe childcare resource.
Orlando Repertory Theatre
Kiwanis Club Orlando volunteers for the Orlando Repertory Theatre throughout the year.
This community theatre specializes in family-focused performances from classic and
contemporary children's literature.
Annual Christmas Party
Kiwanis Club Orlando works with area schools to identify kids who would most likely not
have a special Christmas. The club organizes activities - including a visit by Santa and a
lunch for more than 100 kids.
Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida
Each year, members of Kiwanis Club Orlando give kids living at Coalition for the Homeless
of Central Florida a special birthday celebration. Club members wrap gifts and supervise
games for an afternoon of fun.
Track Meet
Kiwanis Club Orlando works with area schools each year to hold a track meet for 4th and
5th graders. The morning of track and field activities gives kids a chance have fun and
exercise at the same time.
Salvation Army
Kiwanis Club Orlando helps ring in the Christmas season each year by volunteering for the
Salvation Army as bell-ringers.
